Police in Lisburn are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed on Thursday night.

The 22-year-old was attacked with a knife in the Ashmount Park area between 11.10pm and 11.30pm.

The victim was found with a number of stab wounds to his side and taken to hospital.

He is currently receiving treatment for injuries to a lung and kidney.

It has also emerged a second man, aged 21, was attacked by a man wielding a baseball bat at nearby Huguenot play park at around the same time.

Police say the victim was assaulted after an altercation.

The victim received injuries to his back and cuts to his body.
