PSNI officers have carried out a search in the grounds of a Co Armagh cemetery as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident republicans.

Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit conducted the search at St Coleman’s Cemetery in Lurgan yesterday.

It follows a 12-day operation in the Lurgan and Benburb areas earlier this month when a significant amount of guns, explosives ammunition and other items were uncovered during 13 searches.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: “Yesterday’s search further demonstrates that we will continue to work with our communities to disrupt the activities of these reprehensible people.

“A quantity of prescription drugs were found and have been removed for further examination.”
