POLICE have questioned a man in connection with the IRA killing of a 60-year-old in Co Tyrone 25 years ago.

Officers from the PSNI’s Legacy Investigations Branch arrested the 49-year-old man in Belfast today.

He was taken to Musgrave Police Station where he was being questioned.

Matthew Boyd was shot twice and found slumped over the steering wheel of his Vauxhall Astra estate on the Donaghmore Road outside Dungannon in January 1993.

The creamery worker died later in hospital.

The IRA later claimed the father-of-four from Donaghmore was a UVF commander in east Tyrone and had targeted Catholics in the area.

His family denied the claims, as did the UVF.

At his inquest a police officer said he had no evidence to link the dead man to any subversive activity.
