MORE than £30,000 was raised for a cancer charity by last month's "Chieftain's Walk" marking the first anniversary of the death of former deputy first minister Martin McGuinness.

An estimated 2,000 people took part in the walk from Glenowen in Derry to Grianan Fort in Co Donegal.

Mr McGuinness's wife Bernie and sons Fiachra and Emmett handed the money over to the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin hospital yesterday.

The family said the event had been a huge success.
