Mourners have gathered in Newtownabbey for the funeral of a nine-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car while on holiday in Tenerife.
Family and friends of Carter Carson yesterday came together at Abbots Cross Congregational Church for a Service of Thanksgiving in memory of the schoolboy.
Carter died on March 30, a day after he was struck by a car close to a shopping centre in Adeje in the south of the island.
A 39-year-old Latvian man has been charged with causing death by negligence and failing to stop to assist Carter at the scene while a second Latvian man, aged 34, also faces a charge of failing to help the victim of a road accident.
Many young children were among those who attended yesterday's funeral service, including many team mates of Carter, who played in the South Belfast Youth League.
Following yesterday's service, the funeral proceeded to Carnmoney East Cemetery.
