THE second anniversary of the death of a Derry nun will be marked this month with the release of a film about her remarkable life.

Photographs, videos and interviews will form part of the documentary about Sr Clare Crockett, who died in an earthquake in Ecuador on April 16 2016.

The 33-year-old nun was leading children to safety at the school she was teaching music at in Playa Prieta when the building collapsed from the force of the earthquake.

Tributes described her as "a beautiful person" and since her tragic death, her order, the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother, have been inundated with correspondence from friends and acquaintances of the nun as well as many people who did not know her.

"Many were friends and acquaintances but many others, even more surprising, were strangers who spoke to us of conversions, vocations discovered or recovered and special graces," a spokeswoman said.

"There are very impressive stories."

The Sisters felt moved to publish the memories, short letters and thank-you notes they received, which led to the idea of a film about her life.

All or Nothing: Sr Clare Crockett, is based on a huge archive of photographs and audio and video recordings covering the last 15 years of the life of the nun, who was following an acting career when she felt a strong urge to give her life in service to God.

It also has interviews with her parents, close friends from her youth, Home of the Mother founder, Fr Rafael and Servant Sisters who were close to her.

The film will be shown, free of charge, on the anniversary of her death on April 16 at the Brunswick Moviebowl in Derry, as well as being broadcast in Ecuador on the same day.

Prior to the showing of the film at the Derry cinema, the Sisters will pray at Sr Clare’s grave in the City Cemetery at 4pm and all are welcome to join them.

There will also be further screenings of the documentary at St Cecilia's College in Derry on April 17 and in the United States later that week.
