Man stabbed in stomach in east Belfast

A man was stabbed in the stomach in east Belfast at the weekend. It happened on Ravensdale Street and police were alerted shortly after 7pm on Saturday February 3.

Police said the man was walking with a male friend when a group of around five men approached them and one stabbed the victim.

The man was treated in hospital for injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

Detective Sergeant Gardiner has appealed for anyone with information to contact police using the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1082 03/02/18, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

It is understood an 18-year-old man was arrested and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
