Man dies in hit and run in Dungannon
A pedestrian has died after he was knocked down by a vehicle which failed to stop in Dungannon, County Tyrone.
It happened on Killyman Road on Tuesday evening and ambulance crews and police were called to the scene at 19:55pm.
Inspector John McKenna is appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Killyman Road at the time of the incident and witnessed anything to get in touch with police.
Police closed the road between Gortmerron Link and Cunninghams Lane to investigate the collision.
The road has since re-opened.
Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone Rosemary Barton said: “My thoughts first and foremost go out to the man’s family. As I understand it, a male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop around 7:50pm.
“I am appalled that someone can hit a pedestrian and drive away as if nothing has happened. I would urge the driver to come forward to the PSNI as soon as possible."
