AROUND 50 homes and businesses still without power following Storm Eleanor were due to have their electricity supplies restored last night.

NIE Networks said fixing the remaining faults required significant work, including cutting down trees, following Tuesday night's storm.

Winds of up to 100 mph caused flooding, damaged buildings and brought down trees and power lines.

Sara McClintock from NIE Networks thanked customers for their patience.

"The severity and intensity of the storm gusts caused considerable damage to the electricity network and left us with almost 400 faults which were time consuming and labour intensive to repair," she said.

"Our teams will continue to work into the night until the last customer has power restored."
