THE wife of Nishi Ward paid a poignant tribute to the Co Tyrone businessman yesterday following his death in a quad bike accident.

The father-of-four died in an accident on his Plumbridge farm last Thursday evening.

He was the founder of Waste Systems, one of the biggest employers in the area, and had travelled around the world promoting the engineering business.

At his funeral Mass yesterday, Mr Ward’s wife Jennifer read a poem in tribute to him.

The Sacred Heart Church was packed to capacity as she read out “Not how did he die, but how did he live”.

Earlier, Plumbrige parish priest Fr Brian Donnelly told mourners that Mr Ward used all the talents God had bestowed on him.

He said the businessman had a great love for his family, for his native Plumbridge and for the Sperrins.

Local school children and members of St Joseph’s GAA club formed a guard of honour as the funeral cortege arrived at the church, led by a vintage Massey Ferguson tractor, reflecting his interest in antique farm machinery.

Following Requiem Mass, Mr Ward was laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the Sacred Heart Church.
