A 46-year-old man was struck by a car in west Belfast yesterday following an altercation with a group of people on Flax Street.

He was taken to hospital for treatment after he was reported to have been struck by a silver coloured vehicle.

Three men and two women have been arrested as part of the investigation and remain in police custody.

The man is believed to have been hit by a car at around 4.20pm yesterday.

Inspector Paul Noble said: "The man has been taken to hospital".

"A number of arrests have been made in relation to the incident," he said.

He appealed to anyone with information to contact police.
