Applications for Irish passports from Northern Ireland rose by 43 per cent in the first half of this year.

There were 53,547 applications made between January and June, compared to 37,537 in the same period last year.

Applications from Britain are also up 64 per cent so far this year, with Brexit considered to be a key factor.
