A 30-YEAR-OLD man arrested following the murder of Paul McCready on Sunday has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Mr McCready (31), a father of two young boys, died in hospital following an altercation which began in the Northern Whig bar in Belfast city centre and spilled onto Donegall Street at around 12.50am.

It is thought he died in a 'one-punch' attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoffrey Boyce appealed for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.

"CCTV footage has been examined and statements taken from over 20 people in our effort to gather as much information as possible about this tragic incident," he said.

"Following consultation with the PPS, a file will be forwarded to them in due course.

"I would appeal to those people who were in the Donegall Street area at the time of the incident and who haven’t yet got in touch with the investigation team to phone now and tell us what they saw."
