THE only suspect in the brutal murder of west Belfast woman Jennifer Dornan is out of hospital and back in prison after a near fatal overdose.

Raymond O'Neill (37), with a previous address in Summerhill Walk, Dunmurry, was discovered unconscious in his cell at Midlands Prison on the morning of an extradition hearing in October last year.

He was on life support for several weeks but has since recovered enough to be placed back in Midlands prison where he is awaiting extradition to Northern Ireland to face trial for the murder of the mother-of-three.

Ms Dornan (30) was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife in August 2015 before her Lagmore home was set alight in what detectives believe was an attempt to destroy evidence.

Relatives of Ms Dornan travelled to Dublin yesterday as O'Neill appeared in court in a wheelchair.

The case was put back until May 15 for medical reports to be provided to the judge to assess if the west Belfast man is fit enough to be extradited.
