A £200,000 road improvement scheme is to begin at Fortwilliam roundabout in north Belfast next week.

Reconstruction and resurfacing of the major traffic junction will take place over two weeks, with the first phase beginning on March 31.

The Department of Infrastructure said all work is expected to be completed by April 15.

The roundabout will initially be closed over the weekend from March 31 at 8.30pm to 6am on April 3.

The M2 southbound offslip will remain open for access to Dargan Road, Harbour Estate and Duncrue Industrial estate only.

Motorists using the Shore Road are advised to use the Duncrue Street exit.

The second phase will involve the closure of the roundabout from April 7 to 10 at the same times.

The final closure will see the roundabout shut from 7pm to 6am from April 12 to April 15.

Motorists can expect delays in the area.
