MORE than 2,000 free tickets for Titanic Belfast on Sunday are to be made available to anyone living in the north.

The attraction will issue tickets on its website on Wednesday and Thursday for its 'Citizens' Day' event on January 8.

A total of 2,000 tickets are up for grabs, with additional ones being offered to community groups.

Titanic Belfast was named as the world's leading tourist attraction at the World Travel Awards last year ahead of the Las Vegas strip and Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi.

The attraction's chief executive, Tim Husbands, said the free tickets were being released to say thank you to the people of Northern Ireland.

"We recognise that the Northern Ireland got behind us in our bid to become 'King of the World', from the public, industry partners, well-known personalities, politicians, sports stars and businesses," he said.
