CATHAL McCarron is to break the Tyrone senior football team’s unofficial boycott of RTÉ by appearing on The Late Late Show.

The 28-year-old is expected to be interviewed about his new book which lifts the lid on his gambling addiction and decision to take part in a gay pornography shoot.

The Dromore man, pictured, has emerged as a key figure in Mickey Harte’s Tyrone set up in recent years and was part of the team that lifted this year’s Ulster title.

However, Harte has not spoken to RTÉ since 2011 when an insensitive radio sketch was broadcast just months after the murder of his daughter Michaela on honeymoon in Mauritius.

Members of the Tyrone senior squad have also boycotted the state broadcaster.

If McCarron goes ahead with the interview next week it is believed it would be the first time any senior player has spoken on RTÉ since 2011.

It is understood he is obliged to take part in publicity engagements as part of a deal with the book’s publishers.
