A BOOK by writer and broadcaster Owen Kelly has been re-published eight years after his death due to demand.
'Essential Norn Irish', a humorous guide to the north's local lingo, was originally released in 2005.
Mr Kelly, who wrote a weekly column in the Irish News for more than 25 years, passed away in November 2008.
But publisher O'Brien Press said the guide had been "such a success that we knew we had to revive it".
Mr Kelly was one of Northern Ireland's best-loved humourists, known predominantly for his two long-running columns for the Irish News - Kelly's World and The Saturday Column.
Originally from south Derry, he later lived in west Belfast.
His guide has been described as a "laugh-out-loud funny, irreverent and practical".
Among phrases to be translated are 'smatter', 'take a daisy' and 'sin'.
Helpful translations also include:
'How far to the Dark Hedges?
'Norn Irish: 'It'll take ye an iron a bit'.
'Translation: 'The journey will require slightly over an hour'.'
O'Brien Press said the increase in tourism in Northern Ireland meant visitors would be "thankful for this handy guide to understanding the difficult Norn dialect".

Mr Kelly was also the author of two volumes of autobiography - Tales Out of School and Hen's Teeth.
He was described by the Times Educational Supplement as having "an original mind with a refreshing line in humorous understatement".
