A MAN has died and two people including a 15-year-old boy are in a critical condition following three separate road collisions.

Patrick Gerald Lively (60) died after a crash between a tractor and a car in Co Down.

It is understood the tractor rolled over following the collision on the Hilltown to Bryansford road at the junction with the Kinnahalla Road at around 6pm on Monday.

A woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital suffering from shock.

Meanwhile, a teenage cyclist was fighting for his life on Monday night after a collision with a lorry on the outskirts of west Belfast.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Victoria Hospital described the 15-year-old boy's condition as critical.

The collision happened at Brian’s Well Road in Poleglass on Monday afternoon.

The schoolboy, who is believed to be from the Glenkeen area, was due to undergo surgery for his injuries on Monday night as family members gathered at his bedside.

Sinn Fein assembly member Jennifer McCann said people in the area were in shock.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear about this tragic accident,” she said.

“I hope the young lad makes a full recovery and the thoughts and prayers of the whole community are with the young lad and his family.”

SDLP councillor Brian Heading offered his best wishes.

“I would wish the lad a quick recovery,” he said.

“It’s a reminder about taking care on the roads.

“It’s obviously going to be a shock to the driver of the lorry.”

And a man was also in a critical condition after a two-vehicle crash near Lisburn.

Three people were taken to hospital after the collision at the junction of Hillhall Road and Quarterlands Road.

A Royal Victoria Hospital hospital spokeswoman said one of two men taken there was in a critical condition while the other was stable.
