NORTHERN Ireland Water has apologised after a tanker working for the company sprayed buildings in a Co Down village with sludge.

A TM Waste tanker sprayed the front of several homes and businesses in Crossgar, Co Down, yesterday morning.

An NI water spokesman said the company was aware of the "sludge spillage".

"TM Waste are currently on site carrying out a clean up operation with the assistance of NI Water," he said.

He added: "NI Water apologise for the inconvenience caused and are working to resolve this immediately".
