CO DOWN funnyman Patrick Kielty and his TV presenter wife Cat Deeley have announced the birth of a baby boy, but earlier than expected.

Though the little boy was born last week, the couple decided to announce their happy news on Tuesday.

Ms Deeley took to Twitter to announce the birth, posting: "Beyond delighted to announce the birth of our baby boy last week. All doing well & we couldn't be happier... 3 really is the magic number!"

Paddy Kielty retweeted the post.

The 44-year-old daddy had previously joked about having children with Brummie Deeley, saying: "I hope any child we might have has Cat's looks and my accent. With our two strong accents, we basically needed subtitles or a UN translator."

The 39-year-old TV presenter married the Dundrum comedian in September 2012.

The upcoming birth of their baby was also announced on Twitter last autumn, but it appeared the birth was expected in spring this year.

Ms Deeley who is based in Los Angeles had tweeted in September:  "Exciting news.... Paddy and I are so happy to be expecting our first child in the Spring..... Lucky us."

The So You Think You Can Dance presenter and her Irish husband were old friends when they began dating in early 2012.

Deeley had said in June 2013 they were not yet ready to start a family.

But that all changed when the couple announced the birth with Patrick Kielty welcoming the arrival as "very exciting".

The then dad-to-be confirmed the news last year and expressed his joy on Loose Women, telling the panellists: "Yes. There is a little baby on the way. In the spring. Very exciting, God love it. It's going to have this as a father!"

The stand-up comedian has also revealed how he wooed the English presenter – by flying halfway around the world to surprise her for her birthday.
