A 38-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident that happened on the outskirts of Bangor on Tuesday.
The man will also face a charge of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence when he comes before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on January 13.
On Saturday, police said they had also arrested a 34-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting offenders, however she has since been released on bail “to allow for further police enquiries to be conducted”.
They added that the investigation into the incident on January 7, which resulted in a man being hospitalised with stab wounds, had been “progressing rapidly”.
Officers received a report of a serious assault in the Breezemount Close area of Conlig at around 8am on Tuesday morning.
The man was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
