Lorry driver arrested after drugs worth £300,000 recovered in Ballymena

A second man has been arrested after follow-up searches in Ballymoney, Armoy and Coleraine

A lorry driver has been arrested after police seized drugs worth an estimated £300,000 in Ballymena as part of an investigation into organised crime.

The 26-year-old driver was arrested after the lorry was stopped and searched in the Co Antrim town on Thursday morning.

He was detained on suspicion of possessing a class B drug, possession with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.



Follow-up searches were carried out by police in Ballymoney, Armoy and Coleraine, and a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.

Both men remained in custody on Thursday evening.
