One Covid-19 death, 124 new cases

One further coronavirus related death has taken place, while an additional 124 people have tested positive.

The death toll is now 2,136 according to the Department of Health

The number of new cases has increased in the past seven days, up from 766 to 790.

There are 71 people in hospital with Covid-19 and nine of them are in ICU with six being ventilated.

Coronavirus clusters are present in two care homes.

Bed occupancy in the north's hospitals is at 98%, and four hospitals are operating over capacity. They are Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital and Enniskillen's South West Acute Hospital.

The rolling seven-day case rate is 42 per 100,000 of the population for the dates April 13-19, up from 40.7 in the previous seven days. The rate in Derry City and Strabane council area (113.5) is almost triple the average while Ards and North Down's rate is half (20.58).

In the same period 24 people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19, down from 30. Six people also died, down from eight.
