Two Covid-19 deaths, 113 new cases

Two further coronavirus related deaths have been recorded, while an additional 113 people have tested positive.

The death toll is now 2,125 according to the Department of Health with one of the deaths recorded today occuring outside the most recent 24-hour reporting period.

There are 99 people in hospital with Covid-19 and 10 of them are in ICU with all but one being ventilated.

Coronavirus clusters are present in five care homes.

Bed occupancy in the north's hospitals is at 102%, and five hospitals are operating over capacity. They are the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Coleraine's Causeway Hospital, Enniskillen's South West Acute Hospital and Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry. There are 210 people awaiting admission and only four hospitals have any beds available.

The rolling seven-day case rate is 29.4 per 100,000 of the population for the dates April 2-8, down from 44.7 in the previous seven days. Derry City and Strabane council area has the highest rate (56.4) while Mid and East Antrim has the lowest rate (13).

In the same period 553 new cases were reported, down from 841, and 30 people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19, down from 59 . Eight people have also died, down from nine.
