Another person has died after testing positive for Covid-19, statistics released by the Department of Health has revealed.

The death happened before the last 24 hours but has only now been recorded in the department's statistics.

It brings the total number of recorded deaths in the north to 536.

There were three new positive Covid-19 cases identified after 1,500 tests were carried out.

This morning figures from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) said a total of 757 people have died from the disease, up to May 29.

The body records all deaths where Covid-19 is mentioned on a death certificate.

Daily death figures released by the Department of Health mainly cover coronavirus fatalities in hospital.

Nisra's statistics showed that last week, 49 coronavirus deaths were registered, compared with 53 deaths the previous week.

The highest number of deaths registered in a week -128 fatalities - were recorded in the week ending April 24.
