PEOPLE Before Profit have placed anti-Sinn Féin posters around parts of west Belfast.

The placards, which state 'Sinn Féin voted for welfare reform', were erected over the weekend.

It comes after the party last week accused Sinn Féin of "dirty tricks" over election posters bearing the socialist party's name.

Gerry Carroll, who is the party's candidate in West Belfast, claimed Sinn Féin had "put up posters in our name in an effort to confuse people that these are PBP (People Before Profit) posters".

The posters included slogans such as 'People Before Profit still support Brexit'.

But PBP appear to have hit back and party supporters could be seen erecting anti-Sinn Fein posters.

In a statement on the Twitter page of PBP councillor Matt Collins, he said: "At least we have the guts to put our name on our election posters, unlike others.

"On Thursday don’t vote for parties who supported welfare reform, vote for the socialist left."

Last week Sinn Féin's West Belfast candidate Paul Maskey said: "Gerry Carroll would rather talk about anything other than his party's support for Brexit".

He added: "Gerry Carroll is delusion if he believes that the electorate in West Belfast don't see through his transparent attempt to mislead the public on his party's support for a Brexit driven by the Tory party and Ukip".
