AN old science store has been transformed into a wellness room for pupils at an integrated school.
Baroness May Blood and Sir Bruce Robinson officially launched the project at Slemish College in Ballymena.
On meeting pupils, they heard how the new space offered a retreat where young people feel relaxed and supported when struggling with everyday challenges.
With soundproofing, a kitchen and comfortable furnishings, the room is also the ideal space to meet recently appointed Noelle Monaghan who offers a drop-in listening service.
Baroness Blood discussed the importance of sharing and being listened to and praised pupils who have the courage to take the initiative to talk about their worries.
The college strategy to encourage young people to `find their voice' has allowed for many wellbeing opportunities as well as building capacity and confidence.
Baroness Blood and Sir Bruce also spoke to sixth formers, sharing inspirational stories about how one voice can make a such difference.
