HOSPITALITY EXCHANGE
Hospitality Exchange 2024 marks a significant milestone as the event enters its 25th year, offering an engaging and insightful experience with a focus on the themes shaping the future of the industry.
This year’s programme, on Tuesday and Wednesday October 15 & 16, will reflect on the journey since 1999, exploring the evolution of the north’s hospitality sector.
NI Hotels Federation president Eddie McKeever said: “Hospitality Exchange is the largest tourism and hospitality conference in Northern Ireland, and since 1999 the sector has seen over £1.5 billion in investment.
“This year’s programme will delve into the industry’s growth, challenges and the latest innovations. We are, at our core, a people-focused industry, and we’re excited to welcome several leading sports figures who will share their unique insights on team-building and achieving success.
“We are thrilled to have one of the UK’s top chefs, Mark Birchall, join us. We will also be exploring what we can learn from the world of sports and reviewing the impact of hosting global events, such as last year’s Rugby World Cup in France and the upcoming return of The Open in 2025.”
NIHF chief executive Janice Gault added: “Hospitality Exchange 2024 is not just an opportunity to reflect on our industry’s past successes but а critical forum for discussing its future. We have had great support from all elements of the industry and there is a real appetite to see the industry grow and contribute further to the future of Northern Ireland.
“The themes we’ve chosen this year reflect the challenges and opportunities ahead, particularly in areas like AI integration, sustainable practices and tourism’s evolving landscape.”
The conference (www.hospitalityexchange.org.uk) will culminate with a gala ball, hosted by Pamela Ballantine, offering a perfect blend of networking, celebration and entertainment.

OYSTERS, SCALLOPS AND LANGOUSTINES
Stephane Delourme, one of the world’s most renowned seafood chefs, is returning to the Causeway Coast on September 20 & 21, where he’ll be cooking up a feast as part of a two-day takeover at the award-winning boutique hotel Elephant Rock in Portrush.
The Frenchman (55) hails from Brittany but has lived in Cornwall for the past 25 years, where he worked for Rick Stein in the iconic Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, as head chef and group chef, before hanging up his apron last year to embark on his own gastronomic adventure.
Since March, Elephant Rock owner Charlotte Dixon has been collaborating with Stephane, food and drink producers, fishermen and storyteller Mark Rodgers to create two very different dining experiences.
She said: “We invited Stephane back to the Causeway Coast because when he was here in March we were blown away by his passion for seafood, his international travelling experiences with Rick Stein, his work with fellow internationally renowned chefs as well as his flair for culinary creativity for team takeovers, pop ups and private dining, internationally and in the UK.
“So, we have created two dining experiences – each of which will be so special in their own right. The first is a ‘Fire and Feast’ evening, a superb outdoor dining experience on our terrace, and the second evening is a sit-down four-course tasting menu.
“The night before our events begin, celebrity chef, drink producer and board director for Slow Food NI, Paula McIntyre, will host a Q&A with Stephane for our team at Elephant Rock and the public.”
