ONE man was taken to hospital by air ambulance yesterday after reportedly falling from a cherry picker in Co Armagh.

The accident took place around 9.30am on the Legacorry Road, Richhill.

No details have been released yet but it is understood the man was working on a pole when he fell.

Part of the road remained closed for several hours.

The NI Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call following reports of a male patient "having fallen from a height".

The spokesperson added: "NIAS despatched an emergency crew to the scene and also tasked the charity air ambulance with HEMS crew on board to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the patient was taken by air ambulance to RVH in Belfast."

The man's condition is not known.
