A MAN has been shot in the leg in a paramilitary-style attack in west Belfast.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was being treated in hospital for his injuries on Sunday night after being attacked in an entry in Creeslough Walk at around 8.15pm.

Police said: “Two men dressed in dark clothes brought a man into an alleyway in the area. It was reported the men then shot the man in his left leg.

"The men are believed to have made off towards the Suffolk Road area following the incident.

"Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are treating this shooting incident as a paramilitary style assault. Those responsible for this barbaric act do not represent the interests of this community, nor do they contribute anything to it. They do it to try and exert influence, or gain control of those they claim to represent."
