A man has died in a two-vehicle collision on the Drumcroon Road in Coleraine.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was the driver of a Transit van that collided with a lorry just before 1.25pm on Wednesday.

The PSNI said the driver of the lorry, belonging to a Dublin based freight firm, was not seriously injured.

The Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene to take the seriously injured driver to hospital but he died a short time later.

Insp Colin Shaw asked for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage, to contact police.

The Drumcroon Road remained closed on Wednesday while investigators examine the scene.
