A SERVICE of celebration to remember the life of a young man killed when a tree fell on him during Storm Ali is to take place in Co Antrim this morning.

The family of 24-year-old Matt Campbell have requested that bright clothing is worn at the service in Ballyclare, to be held at 10.30am at Fleming and Cuthbert Funeral Home.

Mr Campbell was struck by a tree at the entrance to Slieve Gullion Forest Park in Co Armagh on Wednesday.

The engineer, who was engaged to be married, was working for Lagan Construction Limited on behalf on NI Water.

His fiancée Robyn Newberry had picked up the couple's wedding rings earlier that day and said she plans to place his ring in his coffin.

"He's just my man, he just looks so peaceful and relaxed, with his lovely long eyelashes.

"It doesn't feel real, it shouldn't be real, I don't want it to be real," she told the Belfast Telegraph.

His father Robert Mark Campbell paid tribute to his "beautiful son".

"We are so proud of Matt and all he achieved in his short life. We all love you son and you made us very proud. Til we meet again."

Following the service, Mr Campbell will be buried at Ballyclare Cemetery.

A second man, who is in his forties, was injured and is being treated in the Royal Victoria Hospital.

A spokesman for Lagan Construction said it is "offering support and counselling services to colleagues and we continue to work closely with the statutory authorities."

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) has said power was finally restored at 3.30am on Saturday to the remaining customers who had lost supplies as a result of the storm.

At one stage on Wednesday, more than 90,000 homes and businesses across the north experienced power cuts in the strongest winds ever recorded in Northern Ireland during the month of September.

NIE has said there may be interruption to supplies in coming days as workers carry out permanent repairs.

Strong winds and debris during the storm also led to transport disruption with the closure of more than 60 roads.

In the Republic, the storm claimed the life of a Swiss tourist, Elvira Ferraii, after her caravan was blown off a cliff in Co Galway.
