A 12 year-old boy and a teenager are expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court today charged in connection with an attempted robbery of a takeaway premises in Co Armagh.

Police said two young men armed with a knife an a hammer entered the premises at Legahory at around 11pm on Friday and threatened staff before demanding money but fled empty-handed.

A short time later two boys aged 12 and 14 were arrested.

A 12-year-old boy is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court today charged with seven offences including attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an article with a blade or a point.

A 14-year-old will also appear before the same court charged with attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.
