GARDAÍ have appealed for witnesses after a man armed with a knife hijacked a vehicle in Dublin with a baby strapped into a child seat inside.

A couple and a child were leaving the Phoenix Park area on Sunday night when they were approached by the armed man. He threatened the occupants and pulled them from their vehicle at around 11.15pm.

He then drove away with a one-year-old child in the back seat before stopping and ordering the couple to take the child out of the car.

The three occupants of the car were not injured.

The vehicle was then driven from the scene and has not yet been recovered.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anyone who has seen the grey Nissan Qashqai, with a 181 WX registration to contact them.
