THERE is growing speculation that Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid is to marry Hollywood star Courteney Cox in Derry later this week.

It is rumoured that A list stars, including Cox's former Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston and Ed Sheeran, could attend the wedding.

While the couple have remained tight-lipped about their plans, there is speculation that they intend holding a private wedding ceremony at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ardmore.

It was reported earlier this month that Jennifer Aniston, a close friend of the star, had been asked to be her maid of honour.

In 2015 Ms Cox was maid of honour for Ms Aniston when she married Justin Theroux. The star also comforted Ms Aniston when she split from Theroux in February this year.

The 41 year-old Snow Patrol musician met actress, who is 12 years his senior, through mutual friend singer Ed Sheeran in 2013.

After a brief-four month separation in 2016, they got back together and have been a firm couple ever since.

According to reports, the couple plan a second wedding reception in Malibu, California following the Derry ceremony.

Ms Cox has visited Derry on a number of occasions staying at the Cox family home in Culmore.

The couple have been frequently seen around the city, posing for selfies with fans and enjoying the Derry nightlife.

They were also joined on one of their trips to the city by Ed Sheeran and last month the couple appeared together when McDaid was given a civic reception by Derry City and Strabane District Council last month.
