A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in court after he was arrested in west Belfast on suspicion of a number of offences including assaulting police.

The teenager was detained earlier this week on suspicion of attempted burglary, possession of a blade or point in a public place, driving while disqualified and a range of other motoring offences.

The PSNI last night said he is due to appear before Belfast Youth Court on December 22.
