THE SDLP is to hold a civil rights panel discussion tonight in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

It is the second in a series of events to mark next year's 50th anniversary of the north's civil rights movement.

The event will be opened by SDLP leader Colum Eastwood, and the panel discussion will be chaired by Irish News journalist Brendan Hughes.

On the panel will be former MP Bernadette McAliskey; SDLP co-founder Austin Currie; SDLP civil rights committee chair Brid Rodgers; Michael McLoughlin, who signed the original permit request for the Dungannon civil rights march; and Fergal McFerran, a former NUS-USI president and same-sex marriage campaigner.

The event, organised by the SDLP civil rights committee, will take place at The Junction at 7.30pm.
