Police have searched open ground and woodland in the Moy area of Co Tyrone as part of the Charlotte Murray murder investigation.

A house and a business in the village were also searched last week as detectives sought to locate a mobile phone and a computer believed to be connected to her disappearance.

Charlotte Murray (34) has not been seen since she was reported missing in May 2013.

A PSNI spokesman last night confirmed that officers recently carried out more than five searches in the Moy area. It is understood one of the searches was on land at the edge of the village on the Dungannon Road.

Police have confirmed that during the searches several mobile phones and a computer were seized.

Earlier this week the PSNI said they are treating the case as murder and appealed for information about the victim’s mobile phone and engagement ring.

Originally from Omagh, Ms Murray had been living in the Moy area at the time of her disappearance.

Her last contact with her family was in October or November 2012.

Earlier this week her family made a heartfelt appeal for the return of her remains.

Her twin sister Denise Murray said her “disappearance is one of the most horrific experiences we have ever faced in our lives”.

“Charlotte has missed so many family events and celebration and that constantly reminds us that Charlotte is not here with us.

“Christmas is a really sad time for our family also – we’ll be spending our 6th Christmas without her this year."

Ms Murray appealed for the return of her sister’s remains.

"We still live in hope and wait for her return,” she said.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: “Police are working on the belief that Charlotte has been murdered and I am appealing to anyone who may have any information that will help me with my investigation to please come forward and speak to my team of detectives.”

The officer said that police have “made significant progress over the past 12 months”.

Mr Corrigan also said that in addition to the recent searches they “are also making a number of enquiries in the community”.
