AN IRISH News review of Neil Diamond's latest concert in Belfast has been singled out for praise in an interview with the famous singer-songwriter.

During an appearance on the Chris Evans Radio 2 breakfast show yesterday, the US singer was asked about the rave reviews he has received for his 50th anniversary tour, which came to the SSE Arena in Belfast on Sunday.

Evans referred to the glowing reviews he has received and included the Irish News, quoting from Allison Morris's line that "if you want to make yourself feel young - get to a Neil Diamond concert".

The music star said: "The audience is the king...I am uplifted...it goes from there. I am a little tired...but I am exhilarated after a show."

"There was a certain formality 30 or 40 years ago that you don't find now. People are out to have a good time."

The Sweet Caroline singer added: "They want to sing along, they want to become part of the show, that is the biggest difference I can see."

Allison said she was amused to hear her review had been given a mention by Evans.

"I wouldn't have labelled myself as the most dedicated Neil Diamond fan but his concert was hilariously entertaining, as much for the crowd as for the music," she said.

"To have my review mentioned on the Chris Evans show with listening figures of over nine million a day, really made me laugh.

"The review was a bit tongue in cheek and I'm glad it was taken in the good humour it was intended."
