A YOUNG Co Tyrone woman killed in a road crash near her home on Saturday has been described as a "special human" who was "fun, caring and loving".

Hannah Molloy (18) from Castlederg, died after her car left the Fyfin Road, between Victoria Bridge and Castlederg.

The teenager, who was a former under-age ladies player with Aghyaran St Davogs GAA Club, had been a pupil at Loreto Grammar in Omagh and studied at South West College in the town.

Police said they received a report at 10am on Saturday that a car had left the road close to the junction of Fyfin Road and Concess Road.

The tragedy brings to 41, the number of people killed on the north's roads so far this year. Of those, eight have been aged between 16 and 24.

It is understood the teenager, who is thought to have worked at The Mellon Country Inn in Omagh, had just left school in June.

Tributes were led by Aghyaran St Davogs GAA Club, where Hannah had played under-age ladies football.

In a Facebook post the club said news of the tragedy had prompted "great sadness".

"Hannah has played under-age football with our ladies teams. A lovely young girl who has been taken from her family and community in tragic circumstances."

Friends took to social media to offer condolences on the loss of a friend. One said she had "no words to say how heartbroken I am right now".

"I have lost my fun, caring, loving best friend and I would do anything to have you back. You brought so much joy into my life and I will never be able to thank you for that."

Another friend said: "I have no words Hannah. Thank you for some of the most wonderful memories you have given me which I will cherish forever. Such a special human taken way to soon . We will all miss you so much".

Another tribute read: "Never take anything for granted in life for you never know exactly what's around the corner. Rest easy Hannah, you were like a sister to me....Love you always, until we meet again my friend".

SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan said Miss Molloy was "well-known to people her age throughout the wider Omagh and Strabane areas."

The West Tyrone representative said he hoped to meet with police to establish the circumstances of the crash.

"This is truly heartbreaking news and such a great loss of life, a young woman with her entire life ahead of her but this was taken far too early," he said.

Offering sympathies to the teenager's family he said: "This is yet another young person dying unnecessarily on our roads and the impact of this is truly immeasurable for everyone in the community."
