A DERRY camogie secretary is among the stars in a new advertisement celebrating GAA volunteers.

Wendy McEldowney features in the Behind Every Great Town series, which acknowledges those who give their time to support their club and community.

From fundraising to mowing the pitch, the short videos from Guinness celebrate the best of GAA community spirit.

The advertisement features four volunteers from Derry, Kerry, Galway and Dublin.

Ms McEldowney is camogie secretary of Robert Emmets in Slaughtneil and was an important part of the club's All-Ireland Camogie final success this year.

The ad shows her in her kitchen with other volunteers as they organise a club fundraising event.

"You need the fire in your belly and the passion for the GAA to do what we do. There are many of us up here seven nights a week helping out. It's all we live for. Everybody gets stuck in," she says in the film.

"Because you’ve got a sense of commitment for it, you are happy to become the chairperson, secretary or just be the general dogsbody. You will do anything that is needed to help drive the club forward."

The film ends with Moses Wanjigo, originally from Kenya, who came to live in Dublin in 2010.

He responded to an advertisement from the Erin Go Bragh GAA Club who was looking new members to join. Moses said he found volunteering a way to integrate into the community.
