Man (42) released `unconditionally' after arrest in west Belfast under terror laws

A 42 year-old man who was arrested under terrorism legislation and questioned at Musgrave Police Station following a police raid in west Belfast has been released unconditionally.

Houses were evacuated on Monday while officers searched a house at Moyard Crescent, with Whiterock Community Centre opened to people unable to get into their homes.

Police said the homes had been cleared a number of houses were evacuated to "ensure the safety of local residents".

It is understood that during the operation material was found which led to a British Army ammunition technical officer being called in.

A number of items had been seized in the search and taken away for forensic examination and detectives said inquiries "are ongoing".
