Hundreds of people took part in a loyalist band parade in the Costa Blanca area of Spain on Wednesday, leaving many holiday makers watching on in bemusement.

The annual July 12, parade organised by the Benidorm Protestant Boys band is usually attended by both holiday makers and ex-pats in the resort popular with tourists from Northern Ireland.

While the band perform at events in loyalist bars in the resort throughout the year they are joined by holidaying bandsmen from across Scotland and Northern Ireland for the Twelfth parade that marched through the sun drenched streets of the resort.

Several hundred people followed the parade through the streets more used to hosting Spanish religious fiestas.

In the past the Spanish police have made arrests following minor unrest surrounding the parade, however, this year the march dispersed at the loyalist Ibrox Bar without incident.
