TWO men have been injured in separate stabbings in Co Derry.

A 47-year-old man was stabbed several times to the back of the head on the Dungiven Road in Derry city at around 11.40pm on Friday night.

The man was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later discharged.

Two men, aged 31 and 32, and a 32-year-old woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, in Coleraine, a man was stabbed after being confronted by two men who demanded money as he checked under the bonnet of his car.

The attack happened in Brook Street shortly after midnight on Friday.

The man made his own way to hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries before being discharged.

Detective Constable Brennan said: "One of the males demanded money from the man and struck him to his side when he refused.

"After a brief altercation, both attackers fled on foot in the direction of Millburn."

Constable Brennan added: "The first male was described as being in his 20s, of medium build with short dark hair and was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a zip up hooded top. The second male was also in his 20s, of heavy build and wore blue jeans and a red coloured football top."
