BELFAST is to host Ireland's largest ever indoor country music hoedown this October.

Country music stars Derek Ryan, Lisa McHugh and Robert Mizzell top the bill at The Farmer's Bash at the SSE Arena on October 6. Also appearing at the event will be Marty Mone of Hit The Diff fame, as well as Hugo Duncan and Country Harmony.

Country music has soared in popularity in recent years and thousands will be expected to come and jive the night away.

'Frostbit Boy' Ruairí McSorley, from Co Derry, who last lost three stones in weight since taking up jiving a year and a half ago, will be on hand at the event to hand out some dancing tips.

"I hope this is another event that helps prove country music is cool. Jiving is good for the soul. It's for all races and creeds and truly has the power to unify people," he said.

Ballymena-based tractor film company Grassmen, whose DVD's and Youtube vidoes on silage making are popular worldwide will also bring some four-wheel power to The Farmer's Bash.
