A Belfast school has warned parents about a 'suicide game' app

A BELFAST school has warned parents about a 'suicide game' linked to the deaths of more than 100 teenagers in Russia.

Mercy College in north Belfast posted on Facebook yesterday that they had "recently been made aware" of the Blue Whale game, played via several social media platforms.

The game encourages children to complete challenges over 50 days, including self-harming, watching horror films and waking up in the night.

On the final day of the challenge, children are instructed by their 'master' to take their own lives.

The college wrote: "We have no further details at present but felt that due to the seriousness of this threat we should let parents know so they can talk to their children about the dangers posed by such a 'game' ".
