FRIENDS of a father-of-two killed on a stag party in Majorca have set up a fundraising appeal to help bring his body home.

Adrian O'Kane, whose family were originally from Northern Ireland, died after he was struck by a car in Magaluf on Sunday.

Born in Birmingham, Mr O'Kane had lived in the north and in Dublin, where his two young daughters aged 13 and 15 currently live with their mother.

The 40-year-old construction worker had travelled to the Spanish resort with a group of 40 friends at the weekend. He had a left a nightclub and was walking back to his hotel at around 3am when he was hit.

Police in Magaluf said a 39-year-old Spanish man was arrested and reportedly tested positive for alcohol and drugs.

Tributes have been paid to Mr O'Kane, known to his friends as Swanny, with many describing him as a "true gent".

A friend said: "Thanks for all the laughs we had mate, never a dull moment with you about that's for sure", while another tribute said he was "such a fun, loving guy - a true gent. I have so many happy memories".

It is understood Mr O'Kane was a regular visitor to Ireland with his father Martin O'Kane originally from Derry and his grandparents from Co Meath.

Devastated friends launched a fundraising drive to help return his body to Birmingham where he lived most recently.

The JustGiving account had last night raised almost £23,000 since it was set up.

Organiser Fiona O'Riordan said she had set up the page as Mr O'Kane had travelled without travel insurance and £8,000 was needed to bring him home.

She said extra funds raised would help cover funeral expenses and support his two daughters.
