TWO people have been arrested following an overnight incident in Belfast where a man and women were assaulted with a curtain pole and paint pot in what police are treating as racially motivated hate crime.

Around 1.45am on Saturday police were called to a house in the Donegall Avenue area of Belfast.

Two men aged 17 and 22 were arrested at the scene but later released pending further police enquiries.

There are no further details.

Local Policing Chief Inspector David Moore appeal to anyone who may have witnessed theincident to contact Police at Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 121 15/10/16.
