Mother and young children locked in bathroom during Co Down burglary

A three-strong gang threatened a woman during a burglary at her Co Down home

ARMED men locked a mother and her three young children into a bathroom during a burglary at the family's Co Down home.

Three masked men armed with two guns and a hammer burst into the house on Ribadoo Road near Ballyward at around 7.30pm on Monday.

They threatened the woman and demanded money before ransacking the house. The men then locked the woman and her children into the bathroom before stealing the family's grey Audi A4 car.

Two of the men were described as being around 6 ft tall, of slim build, whilst the third man was around 5 ft 8" tall and of stocky build.

The three men wore masks, gloves and hi-vis tops.

Police said the woman and children were not injured but had been left badly shaken.

Officers appealed for information.
